Career Opportunity: Store Person
The Company
Northern Lift Trucks are the forefront supplier of material handling equipment in Northern Ireland, Co. Donegal, and Co. Sligo exclusively supplying and supporting Manitou and HD Hyundai equipment.
The Role
Northern Lift Trucks are seeking a Store Person based at their warehouse in Upper Ballinderry, Lisburn.
Previous stores/warehouse experience is desirable, however full training will be provided for the correct candidate.
Reporting to the Parts Manager, the Store Person is largely responsible for communicating ETA’s, backorder recovery, receiving, stocking, picking/packing, dispatching of pre-market and aftermarket parts. In addition, the Store Person may also be asked to deliver urgent parts to an Engineer or a customer.
On a day-to-day basis, this includes:
- Goods Inward: Receiving deliveries, inspecting for damage, checking quantities against purchase orders, and signing for goods.
- Stock Management: Safely storing items in correct locations, ensuring proper stock rotation (FIFO – First In, First Out), and conducting regular stocktakes/inventory checks.
- Order Picking & Dispatch: Picking, packing, and labelling materials for production or shipment, ensuring orders are dispatched on time.
- Processing Engineer requests for parts.
- Processing returned parts from Engineers.
- Answering telephone, processing sales orders when necessary.
- Counter Trade, dealing with walk-in customers at the counter.
- Administration: Recording inventory movements in ERP or stock management systems and processing delivery documentation.
- Machinery Details: Submit serial number details for new/used stock machine arrivals.
- Equipment Operation: Utilising forklifts (e.g., counterbalance, reach truck), pallet jacks.
- Housekeeping & Safety: Adhering to Health and Safety regulations (COSHH), ensuring the warehouse is clean, tidy, and safe.
The Candidate
The right candidate must have the following:
Key Skills & Competencies
- Licences: Valid Forklift Licence (counterbalance/reach) is desired but full training will be provided.
- Driving: Full driving licence, often for driving company vans for deliveries.
- IT Skills: Basic computer literacy for using stock control systems.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to lift heavy items, bend, and work on feet for long periods.
- Organisation: Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in stock management.
